Collection: Édouard Chimot

Edouard Chimot was a painter and printmaker, influenced by the Symbolists*, whose aesthetic he carried forward into the age of Art Deco*. Edouard Chimot's work has a strong erotic component.

His heyday was the 1920s, when his own art was at its most powerful, and as Artistic Director of the fine press Les Éditions d'Art Devambez, Chimot worked closely with artists such as Pierre Brissaud, Edgar Chahine, Tsuguharu Foujita, and Alméry Lobel-Riche.

Born in Lille, Édouard Chimot studied under Levert and Mossa at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Nice, and under Pharaon de Winter at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Lille.
